InMode Laser Repair Preventive Maintenance and Handpiece Service

Advanced Medical Incorporated provides independent repair support for InMode platforms and handpieces, with particular emphasis on Lumecca IPL and Diolaze diode handpieces. Handpieces on these systems combine high energy with active cooling and electronics, so leaks, window damage, cooling problems and cable or connector failures should be addressed before they cause additional damage.

InMode Systems AMI Services

Handpiece and Applicator Service

Lumecca refurbishment may include flashlamp and optical service, treatment window and crystal repair, seals, leak correction, cooling components, cable and connector repair and output testing. Diolaze service may include diode stack evaluation, cooling path diagnosis, window and crystal service, electrical and cable repair, and power and output testing. Repair scope varies by handpiece revision.

Diagnostics

Common InMode Problems We Diagnose

Select a problem to see how AMI approaches it.

Lumecca Low or Uneven Output
Low or uneven Lumecca output can come from a degrading flashlamp, contaminated optics, a drifting power supply, or a connection issue between the console and handpiece. AMI verifies output with calibrated test equipment to isolate the cause.
Handpiece Leaking
A leaking handpiece often points to a failed seal, a cracked flow path, or a damaged connector within the cooling circuit. AMI inspects seals, fittings, and internal channels to locate the source before repair.
Cracked or Burned Treatment Window
A cracked or burned treatment window reduces energy delivery and can affect patient safety. AMI inspects the window for contamination, thermal damage, and structural cracks, and replaces it when it falls outside safe operating condition.
Cooling Plate Not Reaching Temperature
A cooling plate that fails to reach temperature is commonly traced to a restricted flow path, a failing thermoelectric component, or a sensor issue. AMI evaluates the cooling circuit to find the cause.
Diolaze Diode Stack Performance Decline
A declining diode stack can result from accumulated heat exposure, contamination, or an aging component. AMI evaluates diode stack condition and output stability to determine whether repair or replacement is needed.
Over Temperature or Water Temperature Faults
Over temperature and water temperature faults can point to a cooling restriction, a failing pump, or a degraded heat exchange component. AMI inspects the full cooling path before recommending repair.
Handpiece Not Recognized
When a system fails to recognize a handpiece, the cause is usually a connector, cable, or identification issue rather than the console itself. AMI checks contacts, cabling, and configuration before replacing components.
Cable or Connector Damage
Cables and connectors take repeated mechanical stress during regular use. AMI inspects strain relief points, connector pins, and cable jacketing for wear or damage that can cause intermittent faults.
Intermittent Firing
Intermittent firing can be caused by a loose connection, a marginal component nearing failure, or a safety interlock responding to an underlying fault. AMI reviews fault history alongside a physical inspection to find the root cause.
Triton Handpiece or Diode Performance Imbalance
A performance imbalance across a Triton handpiece or its diodes can point to uneven wear, a partial connection issue, or a degrading component within the array. AMI evaluates the full handpiece to isolate the imbalance.
Reference

Common Error Codes and Fault Messages

Important. Codes and wording can vary by model, software and configuration. The following are useful search and diagnostic reference points. The exact machine documentation should be verified before internal service or calibration.

Select a code or fault to see what it usually tells the technician to check.

H8002 Handpiece Not Connected
Inspect handpiece seating, connector pins, cable and console side recognition. Reported in Lumecca documentation.
H8005 System Memory Fault
Persistent faults require qualified system diagnosis rather than repeated treatment attempts.
H8601 Distributor Card Connection Fault
Can indicate an internal communication or connection issue.
H8609 Water Temperature Fault
Inspect cooling performance, circulation and temperature control components.
Cooling, Flow or Temperature Messages
Exact code varies by platform and software. Identify the specific system and handpiece before diagnosis. Applies to Optimas and Triton families.
Preventive Maintenance

Why Preventive Maintenance Matters

Cooling performance is central to Lumecca, Diolaze and Triton reliability. PM should inspect coolant condition and circulation, filters, heat exchange, handpiece windows, sapphire and contact surfaces, connectors, cables, fans and fault history, followed by functional and output checks appropriate to IPL, diode or RF technology. A small leak or degraded cooling component can become a much more expensive handpiece failure if ignored.

What an AMI Preventive Maintenance Visit Can Include

Select a step to see what AMI checks for it.

Incoming Inspection and Customer Reported Symptom Review
AMI starts by reviewing what the practice has observed, including any intermittent issues, and performs a visual inspection of the console, handpieces, and cabling before any testing begins.
Error and Fault History Review Where Accessible
Reviewing stored fault history can reveal recurring issues that are not obvious during a single visit, helping AMI prioritize what to inspect more closely.
Cooling System, Coolant, Flow Path, Filters and Fan Inspection
The cooling system is checked for coolant level, flow restriction, filter condition, and fan operation, since cooling issues are a common root cause of downstream faults.
Handpiece, Cable, Connector, Fiber and Strain Relief Inspection
Handpieces and their cabling are inspected for wear at strain relief points, connector damage, and fiber condition, since these components see the most physical stress.
Treatment Windows, Lightguides and Accessible Optical Surfaces Inspected for Contamination or Damage
Optical surfaces are checked for contamination, coating wear, and physical damage that can reduce energy delivery or affect treatment safety.
Electrical and Safety Function Checks Appropriate to the Platform
AMI verifies that safety interlocks, emergency stops, and other protective functions are operating correctly for the platform being serviced.
Functional Testing of Installed Treatment Modules
Each installed module is exercised to confirm it fires, communicates with the console, and performs as expected under normal operating conditions.
Calibrated Energy and Power Verification When Appropriate Test Equipment and Procedures Are Available
Where calibrated test equipment and the correct procedure are available, AMI verifies actual output against expected values rather than relying on the console display alone.
Written Findings and Recommended Repairs or Parts
The practice receives a written summary of findings, including any recommended repairs or parts, so decisions about further service can be made with clear information.
Why AMI

Why AMI for InMode Service

InMode platforms can support several very different energy modalities. That means the handpiece is not working is not a complete diagnosis. AMI identifies the exact platform, handpiece revision, connector and symptom before quoting the correct repair path.
